    Story Behind the Song
I wrote and recorded the basic track for this song on halloween night, 1995 on a four track recorder. I was playing my friend's electric guitar through a flanger and strumming it so that it almost sounds kind of like a sitar. The lyrics just sort of came out spontaneously. It's pretty much about being ruled by emotions(you get so excited), reacting wrongly to situations(you come home one day and you lose control), desperation(and then you find that you might lose it all), betrayal(you make a vow that you're not sure to keep), and basically just not letting God be in control of this thing called life.
My friend Mike likes this song alot so that's why it's featured on the site, so if you don't like it you can go visit him at swimsuitgrandma.com and let him know about it. I must admit I'm pretty fond of it too. I can't quite seem to play that guitar part the same way I did it then and there are some other wierd parts in it that I like; the very end for instance where I'm making kind of strange noises in the microphone through a flanger. It also has a proper fade out which is kind of unusual for my low budget material. I guess you'll either love it or hate it. I hope the former is true.

I would like to say that this song has a very special and sad memory for me. After I had recorded it, I was listening to the song in my car one morning on my way from work and I remember thinking that my friend Billy would like this song. When I got home that morning my wife met me at the door with tears in her eyes as she informed me that my dear friend and former pastor Billy Stalnaker had been killed in a car crash. That alone makes this song very special to me. I always thought that was kind of a wierd situation. anyway if you're listening Billy ,"I love you and miss you and I hope you like the song if you happen to hear it somewhere in the great beyond."

    Lyrics
    YOU LOSE CONTROL

You come home one day and you lose control
And then you find that you might lose it all

You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited and you lose control
    Oh oh oh

You make a vow that you're not sure to keep
And when the pressure's on you're sure to creep

You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited and you lose control
    Oh oh oh

You might wake to find you're hypnotized
And you might realize the day you die

You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited yeah you
You get so excited and you lose control
    Oh oh oh
