Story Behind the Song
Kim wrote this song about me mainly while camping at Killbear provincial park around Thanksgiving.
It's full of hidden meanings and inside feelings about our relationship.
She worked on the music and lyrics for at least a month or two. Some of the guitar work is dreadfully sad and depressing. The touch-on harmonics used on her acoustic guitar are quite complicated to me, and I was unable to duplicate them myself.
I don't know if I have the lyrics down right in some placed. Kim wrote most of them down for me, and when I get a chance I'll correct them if possible. Some of them only make sense to her.
Lyrics
Standing naked with roots exposed
Mind wide open, but your eyes are closed
Body willing when your throat just froze
Eminates from you, the spiral that enfolds
Myself, is this bliss
Ethereal dreams, or just a kiss
Some say, wait and see
Or walk away and let it be
But I sense how the tree inside you
Is branching out, and burrowing in me
Time is upon you, it won't cover sin
It's denting your armor, only made of tin
Seeping out is your sense of kin
Dread all you want, you've let something in
The hunter hears a sound
While praying, knelt in the ground
Cling to an era old
One where you still feel bold
You can't hide how you're bought and sold
But the seed you need is planted and growing in me.
Truth in your soul is a ravaging storm
Your layers of genius don't keep your warm
And the bottles you places have left you torn
Soon the green water and moss will be worn
Up from the shield and stone
The statue you'll stand alone
Don't wait for the wind to assist
With the cracks and pebbles in your midst
The seas takes you as little stones
And washes your weary bones back home to me.
Denial lies in you, it's the cunning fox
How you've survived, this urban box
Trial of sorts that showed your hard knocks
You've lost the key to your own locks
Of your cedar chest
Beneath the ocean's crest
Lies waiting another quest
To sail above it, is that your best?
Dive down, trust don't test
Because the sea will guide your spirit to be free.
