Story Behind the Song
Imagine yourself as a hairdresser in Texas. You love your work, but during idle moments you dream of being an executioner--the one who actually gets to throw the switch, sending untold volts surging through the prisoner in the electric chair.
Johann Sebastian Krogg lives on the fringes of society. An icefisherman, he lives in a hut on the frozen lake for most of the year, moving it to dry land on a small plot in the greater Winnipeg area during warmer months. With little else to do during these relatively balmy times, Krogg hooks his four track machine up to his portable generator and records music for tiny e records. In this case, tiny e sent him the music and lyrics of "Executioner" written by G. Burnley Vest, Holland Henton and Adam E. Wadsworth. We at tiny e were positively thrilled, as usual, with Krogg's sensitive interpretation.
Lyrics
I like to flip the switch
Watch the prisoner twitch
I like to smell the burning flesh
I always keep the current fresh
Executioner, flip the switch
Executioner, flip the switch
Perpetrators you can’t hide
Texas is where I reside
Pork chops, Shrimp or Crepes Flambere
Eat it quick get outta there
Executioner, flip the switch
Executioner, flip the switch
Midnight, child that’s my time
No call from the governor he got no dime
I can’t wait till the priest arrives
And you’re ten steps from your demise
Open the curtain let the witnesses in
the show’s all over before it begins
Executioner, flip the switch
Executioner, flip the switch
