    Story Behind the Song
I've always wanted to write a song for my father..he is the one person that has always backed me up and understood how important my music is to me...I almost didn't get the chance when he was creamed at an intersection by some Yahoo that was out joy riding. I figured I'd better get off my tush and just do it!

    Lyrics
If it Weren't For You I Wouldn't Be Me

    Verse 1:
As I watch my children play
    Memories take me back
To the days when I wore golden hair
    Grass stained jeans and cap

    Verse#2:
You'd take me to your wrecking yard
I was such a sight to see
A little girl with pad and staple gun
    Marking tires NFG

    Chorus:
    You never raised your voice
    You never raised your hand
You had the patience of a Saint
    You always seemed to understand
You never put me through, the third degree
If it weren't for you I wouldn't be me

    Verse#3:
    I remember in the summer
    One Sunday afternoon
The Blue Jays and the Yankees
    Pre-empted my cartoons

    Verse#4:
    I flew into my bedroom
Pulled out my old wool sack
Packed my socks and piggy bank
    I was never coming back

    Chorus:
    You never raised your voice
    You never raised your hand
You had the patience of a Saint
    You always seemed to understand
You never put me through, the 3rd degree
If it weren't for you I wouldn't be me

    Bridge:
Remember when we danced with family circled round
    Tears ran down your cheek
I whispered softly in your ear
These words I tried to speak

    Chorus: (2x out)
    You never raised your voice
    You never raised your hand
You had the patience of a Saint
    You always seemed to understand
You never put me through, the 3rd degree
If it weren't for you I wouldn't be me
