| Story Behind the Song
In 1967, the three little North Carolina towns of Leaksville, Spray, and Draper were consolidated into Eden, North Carolina. The heritage of those who had grown up there was destroyed in the name of progress. Obviously, they can't go home again if they were born in Leaksville, Spray, or Draper.
Lyrics"The Ballad of Leaksville, Spray and Draper"

Fifteen years ago, Leaksvill, Spray, and Draper died,
 All the townspeople looked at the ballots and they cried;
They asked themselves "What've we done?"
"Thrown away the heritage of the daughter and the son,

And I can't believe that they did this to me
I can't believe that they killed history,

Doo doo doo, dut dut dut dut de doo

 Leaksville, Spray, and Draper
The pages of the past are torn like paper
 Leaksville, Spray, and Draper
 Such an insensitve caper.

Some where down the road, maybe 2003
An idea will emerge of such novelty
Someone will suggest, let's start today
Make a brave new world, call it Leaksville, Draper, Spray

And I can't believe that they've done this to me
 I can't believe that they've killed history

Doo doo doo, dut dut dut de doo

 Fifteen years ago
 Sixteen years ago
 Seventeen years ago
 Eighteen years ago....
