Story Behind the Song
Sometimes there's no better story behind the song then the song itself. What I felt when I wrote this song was the kind of thing we all feel when our feelings get the best of us. It doesn't matter who the girl is, because she's just as easily any girl. Originally recorded with extra guitars and percussion, I decided that less is more in this case. Song took an hour to record, mix and put into mp3format.
Lyrics
Something inside broke today;
Something inside hurts,
Hurts, and I'm afraid.
I've been careless with my way...
and now i'm doing time,
Confusion feeds the pain.
Trapped inside the prison of this heart,
Now I'm trying to stop something
That never should have got its start
Turn the key, lock the door.
Toss the Key onto the floor.
(chorus)
Like a fool, I keep running back to pick up things I drop,
'Cause every smile she gives me,
Spins me like a top.
And I'm spinning down into a sea of dark dismay,
I know I should, but I can't
Walk away.
Now there's no way to win this game.
But there's plenty of time,
Time left to play.
So I'm soaking up the pain,
You'll never be mine
It's all the same.
(chorus)
