Welcome home rock fans! Especially any Pink Floyd and Genesis fans missing that certain 'something' in today's humdrum music scene. Check this song out for a gentle reminder of that certain style you've been missing so much. 'Eclipsed' is a heart-throbbing romantic epic in my very own 'expressive rock' style. Stay with it please, its a real grower, and you absolutely must check out Steve Dodd's gorgeous lead guitar solo, which eclipses all that goes before. Then go read the story behind the song....{vocals: Neil} | MP3.com CD: Sound Spectrum - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
This song is a follow-on to RainyDayTown, which concerns the closing scene from the great film 'Billy Liar' by Keith Waterhouse (starring Julie Christie / Tom courtney). In 'Eclipsed,' Billy has got up the next day, and is wondering what he would say to Liz to explain his 'no-show'at the station the night before.
So listen on, and find out what our (anti)hero gets up to now!
Lyrics
Eclipsed
I knocked on your door though I knew you weren’t home
I just had to be sure I was truly alone
Let down again and left miles behind
But as I’m to blame, I really don’t mind - you know I really don’t mind
I’m telling you this so you understand
I’ve not changed my mind, just altered my plans
I’ll be leaving tomorrow, if not today
Its the fear of departure that stands in my way,
That’s all that’s making me stay
And though I’m calm on the surface - I’m broken inside
Its the price that I’m paying for living a lie
Now sometimes I laugh, but most times I cry
For all the dreams I’ve let die
Surveying the streets, I plan my campaign
Resolving defeat I’ll start all over again
So tell all your family tell all of your friends
I’m still writing the story, here’s not where it ends
Here is not where it ends
And I’m thinking of you now
‘Cause you make me proud
Never afraid to stand out from the crowd
Whilst I lose myself in a pointless charade of long journeys delayed
Guitar Instrumental
And now that you’re gone just a downpour remains
Of abandoned ideas persistent like rain
Soaked to the skin I do not complain
For I swear there’ll come a time
When all the doubts have cleared my mind
And I join you on the last departing train
