Pounding drums with grooving guitars make for
a danceable song with lyrics inspired by one
of the oldest (& most common) of sexual
taboos! |
CD: Bad Apple
Label: None/Unsigned
Credits: Jeff Young--drums & vocals, Mike Santos--guitars & bass. Music & Lyrics by Jeff Young. Recorded at The Sonic Deli, San Marcos, TX. |
Story Behind the Song
Picture our drummer--a once lonely man. Not
lonely because he had to be, but lonely
because he was tired of blowing a week's pay
every Saturday night on all the material
girls he kept dating at the time. Alone on
a Saturday night--girlie magazine within
reach... You fill in the rest--we want our
page to stay out of the adult's only section!
Now, the song was written in 1995 (out of
past experiences, of course) & rewritten about
2 days before going into the studio. This
song took the longest in the studio--19 takes
& 48 hours, but we believe it was worth it!
We like the audience response it gets when we
perform it (especially when the manager of a
local topless bar played it for the dancers
at a friend of ours' request).
Lyrics
Standin' here freezin',
ain't got me no reason,
for standin' here in the cold.
It's Saturday night. Well,
the feelin' is right,
but I'm dressed up with
no place to go...
Pre-chorus:
Trouble finds me, no matter where I go.
I'm like a magnet, even in the dark.
You know I'm looking for trouble
I need you by my side, just like a good luck charm.
Chorus:
Hey...got to have you around...
I'm up to no good...
Hey...need to have you around us,
you're so good...yes you are...
I had a dream of you...
it made me feel so good...yes it did.
The feeling of you by my side,
was like the way it should...
2nd Pre-Chorus:
Trouble finds me, no matter where I go.
I'm like a magnet, even in the dark.
Baby, you know what I'm into now...
got to have you around just like a good luck charm.
(Repeat Chorus)
(Solo)
(Repeat Chorus)
