This is a tribute song to the late Dale Earnhardt written by a devoted fan from Dale's hometown of Kannapolis, NC The song begins very soft spoken words that may be almost prayer like. It is acustic guitar and vocals, probably could be called country music. THIS SONG IS ONLY A FREE DOWNLOAD AND NOT ON THE NEW ALBUM!
CD: THE ONLY TRUE HERO A TRIBUTE TO THE LATE DALE EARNHARDT   Label: Davis Recordings
Credits: Joe Davis, Music, Lyrics and guitar

    Story Behind the Song
The song is a little over 3 minutes long and was written as soon as the Death of Dale Earnhardt was known.
The lyrics speak for themselves and are truly from the heart of someone that grew up with his racing hero
always in the picture as part of our lives. The song just poured out when Joe picked up his guitar. It was
recorded and a CD was made within the next week. Copies of the song have been given to race fans and radio
    stations across the south.

    Lyrics
    (Softly spoken opening)
He may have lost the last lap
but he is already one lap ahead
    of all of us.

    (Strong)
    Part of me is gone
    Now I feel so alone
I know yu feel the same was as I
    I can't believe Dales gone
    I can't believe the voices I hear
I can only look back and remember
The sound of the crowd as they stood and cheered
in my heart you'ss live forever.

    (Chorus)
I cried and I cried the night Dale Earnhardt died
I cried and I cried the night Dale Earnhardt died
I cried and I cried the night Dale Earnhardt died
He was the only true hero from the south.
He was the only true hero from the south.

    I can't believe its true
Now I don't know how to feel
    Everything changes so fast
I don't want to believe its real
    The roar of the south
The old number 3 was the only hero a boy could ever need.

    (Chorus)
He put my hometown on the map
He made us all smile inside
    Dale you'll live forever
    Forever our southern pride
    Remember the old number 3
    Remember the old number 3
    Things won's be the same
    Cause now he driving
    Now he's driving
    for G O D

    (Chorus)

    (Fade Out)
