Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by a chapter in Max Lucado's book Just Like Jesus. It probably took an hour or two to write. It was really written to encourage E. P. I knew she was troubled at the time.
Lyrics
If I was the thief on the cross
He would still say, "today, you will be with me in heaven"
and if you were Judice the betrayer
He would wash your feet
ya he would wash your feet
(chorus)
And He will be with you,
He will rejoyce over you
let him love you,
He can save you,
He will sing about you
let Him love you,
Rest, rest in His love,
Rest, rest in your father, He's up above.
Rest, rest in his love
If I was the man with the hammer,
He would still say "forgive them for they don't know what they're doin."
and if you were Peter who denyed him,
He would still feed you,
ya He would feed you.
(chorus)
