Story Behind the Song
I've studied a lot of different beliefs, and made the choice to give my allegiance to Jesus, the "Spirit of Calvary". It's a conclusion simply called-for by the facts.
Lyrics
Well, you say there's nobody to believe in
You say there's nobody you trust
Well, you know I can hear what you're saying
Ashes to ashes and dust
But I looked at the world all around me
I considered the facts, best I can
I found the truth when I looked
In that old Bible book
And I saw in the eyes of the Man
I believe, I believe in the Rock of All Ages
I believe, I believe in the Bright Morning Star
I don't have time for those worldly sages
The word of the Lord has brought me this far
Oh, how I believe
Well, the world couldn't give me the answers
All its promises ropes of sand
But I've learned I can trust in God's Son
See the scars in His holy hands
Well, the wise men and gurus couldn't help me
'Cause they've never found the truth
All the signs that I'm seein'
Are pointin' to heaven
The only, only way to truth
I believe in the Spirit of Calvary
I believe in the Bright Morning Star
I believe He paid all of sin's wages
The word of the Lord has brought me this far
I believe in the love that He gave me
I believe in the Man with the scars
I believe He has the power to change me
I believe in our home beyond the stars
I believe in the love that He gave me
I believe He has the power to change me
