Beautiful ballad about home being where we find, and where our hearts are--be it with a person or on the street. This version features some wonderful percussion and soft background vocals with an almost "there's no place like home" ending. An audience favorite. |

Story Behind the Song
The song was inspired by an article in the New York Times, about new shanty towns going up under the Willamsburg bridge, and how these homeless men were proud of the little shacks they had built from discarded materials. To them, it was home. Lisa was moved by it, and took it a step further by defining Home as "a shadow of myself" and that "It's what we make--all we do. I couldn't place it until I found you," meaning Home is where your heart is. The song was recorded at Oz Studios in Baltimore, MD.
Lyrics
Palo's got a ways to go
but he says he's got lots of time.
He's found some two by fours, and a beat-up door
junking around, looking for signs of Home.
It's the shadow of myself,
and you know it feels like Home to me.
It's kind of like the dreams we build...
one piled on top of the other.
But I put my soul in the hand I hold
walking around, finally coming back Home.
It's the shadow of myself,
and you know it feels like Home to me.
It's what we make it...
all we do.
I couldn't place it until I found you.
