This original vocal tune has Stacey praising the talents of her percussionist, and so she should! Dave Reinhardt (from Richard Elliot’s band) demonstrates his rock steady meter, and is probably the first drummer to ever get a solo on a smooth jazz tune! He skillfully trades measures with guitarist Brad Carlton to create a unique tribute to the "backbone of the beat". Stacey’s lyrics are a clever play on words juxtaposing the art of dancing to the art of drumming.

    Lyrics
I know a man who moves so well
But he dont take the floor
Makes you boogie-woogie, shimmy and shake
Til you cant stand no more
    He can Jazz it up
    And rock you down
    Sticks pausing in mid air
    Tips off his high hat
    Kicks into song
And grabs you with his snare

    Hes polyrhythmic
    Almost Scientific
In the way he moves a groove
He dont need to leave his seat
To show the rhythm in his feet
Hes a Dancer on the Drums

    - Solo -

    Polyrhythmic
    Almost scientific
In the way he moves a groove
He dont need to leave his seat
To show the rhythm in his feet
    Dancer on the Drums

    You can catch his act
    Around the town
    In cafes, grills and bars
Or you can tune it in and turn it up
On the stereo in your car
    Hes got more charm
    In his arms
    Than any man youll meet
But you cant dance with him
And you cant dance without him
Hes the backbone of the beat

    Hes polyrhythmic
    Almost scientific
In the way he moves a groove
He dont need to leave his seat
To show the rhythm in his feet
    Dancer on the Drums
