Story Behind the Song
Most of us have at some point in our lives longed for someone no longer around for some reason. This is a song sprung from such an emotion.
Like most of Aalicia's creations, it was finished at one sitting with no alterations afterwards. You decided if it is good or not. :o)
Lyrics
It was you that lifted me up and that made me carry on.
But now you're gone and nobody knows where you've gone or anything.
Oh I wish that you would return so I could embrace you, love.
And I would hold on ever so tight, never would I let you go.
Then I hear a knock on the door, and my heart misses a beat;
it sounded just the way that you knocked, when you would come 'round for me.
I rush up to open the door; hope to see your smiling face.
But nothing was outside of the door, save the mirage in my mind.
- - interlude - -
I miss you like never before and my heart it breaks in two.
But you are gone and I know so well you are never coming back.
Still I dream that you will return so it would be we again.
And I would hold on ever so tight, never would I let you go.
Here I stand, outside of my door, looking for the one I lost.
Oh, what a fool Ive made of myself, there is no one here at all.
Slow, in pain, I then close the door and return to dream once more.
No, nothing was outside of the door, save the mirage in my mind.
