Story Behind the Song
Ode to women’s ways. Song began in the upbeat, feel-good, spirit of early 60’s British pop. But, the melody seemed too bubble gum, so I brought in spoken word, instead. Recorded around the same time as, 3AM, Dealer. Like 3AM, lyrics were improvised, save for the chorus.
Lyrics
Sometimes she brings me down
So much I start to worry
And sometimes she brings me to where
I can’t think clearly
Guilty when I walk away
Refusing to look at me
So I wonder what I did to make her ignore me
And I wonder what I said to get the silent treatment
But I can’t figure out what were fighting about
It could be any number of things, really
We’re getting married, two different jobs
Why won’t you let me know when something’s on your mind?
Why can’t we discuss an issue the moment it comes up?
Sometimes she brings me down
She’ll pen things up inside
And anger just accumulates
Then all at once unleashes it
Just when a little tiny problem originates
It gets confusing when she lets loose
A whole months worth of problems at one time
Why won’t you let me know when something’s on your mind?
Why can’t we discuss an issue the moment it comes up?
Sometimes she brings me down.
Jai di lai eyai eyai…
