A laid back melodic verse and bridge with trippy beats then a lo-fi folky singalong chorus. The idea was to have a contrast between classic indie chords and dance/hip hop production. There's a wicked messed up heavy bit at the end. |

Story Behind the Song
A mate of ours, Gilo, came up with some chords but he didn't know how they should go together. We went away for a few days in the Summer on his dad's boat with our guitars and added another section and wrote some lyrics.
It was recorded at Tom's house a few weeks later. We did the drums and bass first and looped them to get a really solid rhythm. We recorded the acoustic guitar in the same session then Tom and Shaggy arranged the whole thing. everything is looped to try and create a slightly 'dancey' production feel.
We added some extra guitar and piano parts and wrote and recorded the rest of the lyrics. After this Tom spent a while messing around with the production and tidying it all up before it was finished.
Lyrics
About the band being held back by a sex mad girlfriend of one of it's members who they don't get on with, it's mostly fictional. The verse is the band talking and the chorus is his explanation of the situation.
(verse 1)
We're back again and in fine fettle
The concept is new but Ashraff's got this problem:
She's a devil by night and she stalks her prey but she doesn't fit in in the light of day (repeat).
(Bridge)
The dead new how to live and the living deserve to die. It's time for role reversal...I think you all know why.
(Chorus)
It's turnin' into a bit of a resurrection shuffle: I bought her some flowers and a box of truffles, She's havin' none of it, I feel a bit out of it, think i'm gonna call it a day.
From a sprint to a run to a walk to a shuffle, i'm goin' back North bring me my duffle.
From a sprint to a run to a walk to a shuffle, i'm goin' back North bring me my duffle coat!
(Verse2)
Some say: we don't dare
but we'll hit you some day
But now, she's getting heavy and we're flying away
She's a devil by night and she stalks her prey but she doesn't fit in in the light of day
(Bridge)
(heavy bit at end)
