    A love story Lucio Dalla captured with poignancy in a song that has become one of his greatest hits. For the first time released in Italian/English with English words by Gino Federici.
    CD: Serenata   Label: EagleVine Records
    Credits: Words & Music by Lucio Dalla. English adaptation Gino Federici.

    Story Behind the Song
    Released almost 14 years ago, Caruso has become one of the most popular Italian songs, on both sides of the Atlantic. Recorded by many artists since, it is being released in English for the first time with adaptation by Gino Federici approved by the Publishers BMG and EMI Italia. It was released on Gino's latest CD "Serenata" November 2000 and has since become the "single" of the album.

    Lyrics
    Te voglio bene assaie;
    ma tanto, tanto bene sai.
    È una catena ormai,
    che soglie il sangue dint'e vene sai.

    Là dove il mare luccica e grida forte il vento
    Su una vecchia terrazza davanti al golfo di Surriento
    Un uomo abbraccia una ragazza dopo che aveva pianto
    Poi si schiarisce la voce e ricomincia il canto.

    CHORUS
    Te voglio bene assaie
    Ma tanto tanto bene sai.
    È una catena ormai,
    che soglie il sangue dint'e vene sai.

    Sorrento in the moonlight a summer breeze is blowing
    On an old balcony a man is soothing a girl's crying.
    He wipes away the tears rolling down from her eyes
    Then he clears his voice and sings a lullaby.

    CHORUS
    I love you more than ever;
    much, much, much more than ever.
    I want you for forever.
    Yes. The two of us together.

    The magic of the Opera, the drama and its power
    That with a bit of mimic and make-up you can become another.
    But when two eyes look into yours so close and so sincere,
    You end up losing all your words and thoughts become unclear.
    So what if life is about to end, he shrugged it off his thinking
    Rather, never having felt so good, he reprised his singing.

    CHORUS
    I love you more than ever;
    much, much, much more than ever.
    I want you for forever.
    Yes. The two of us together.

    Te voglio bene assaie
    Ma tanto tanto bene sai.
    È una catena ormai
    che soglie il sangue dint'e vene sai.
