    Story Behind the Song
Paddy and I used to serve in the
army together and started writing songs in the early 1970's Over the next
few years we wrote many songs together, but then Paddy's marriage broke up
and in 1974 he left the army and we lost touch. When I too left the army in
1979 and moved to London, I got the shock of my life one day when I opened
the door and found Paddy standing there! He'd now re-married and was working as a salesman in London, so happily reunited we started writing again. One day he arrived with some lyrics saying "I wrote this just after splitting with my ex-wife, it's a bit soppy, but can you do anything with it?" The
words leapt out at me as being very personal and very special. Within hours
the song "Love is the key" was born. As with many other songs we've co-written, everything just seemed to fall in to place and without any effort at all the music just pored out of me. The song's been recorded many times by my sister Elaine, who put it on several CD's of her country band in Switzerland, but "this version" appears here as a direct result of "Tomi Ruppel's" involvement, for which I'm truly grateful and hope all who hear it appreciate its deep meaning. Lyrics
    LOVE IS THE KEY

    Written by Pendleton/Whitehill

    Dry away your tears
    place your hand in mine
    Forget about tomorrow
    All we have is time
    Dont ever be afraid
Just place your trust in me
    Life is just a door
    Love is the key

    Look into my eyes
    Smile once more for me
    This was not our making
    It was ment to be
    We could never loose
    The moment we have shared
    Life is just a door
    Love is the key

    We could live forever
    In our separate ways
    Only to remember yesterday
We have shared a life time
    In a single day
    Theres no time for sorrow
    Love me today

    (Chorus)

    Dry away your tears
    Place your hand in mine
    Forget about tomorrow
    All we have is time
    Dont ever be afraid
Just place your trust in me
    Life is just a door
    Love is the key
    Life is just a door
    Love is the key
