Story Behind the Song
Every year my brother and I have a "Boys weekend out". This year we rented a recording studio in Central Iowa for a day. With some long time friends we recorded this song along with 3 others. This song is about the weekend.
Lyrics
I'm gonna' pack up my Cadillac
And kiss my baby good-bye.
I've waited so long
And now it's time to give it a try.
And as I write down these words
I can see the look in your eyes.
So roll back those tears baby,
And kiss your Daddy good-bye,
You see the boys and me,
Were gonna' meet up at Junior's farm.
It's not your typical style,
But I don't see what would be the harm.
If you sit this one out Girl,
And let the boys be gone.
Cause the words and the music,
Has me ready to sing along.
It's a Boys. Weekend out!
It's a Boys. Weekend out!
No corporate types, And no business hypes
No lawyer dues and no women reviews
No deadlines here, just a lot of beer.
So drink up son, were ready for fun,
Open the door 'cause the band has begun
(Guitar Solo)
(Chorus)
Now you know me and I know you
We've traveled this road before.
Come here just to get away,
And find a Magical Door
That takes us to another space
Where the sound of the crowd is a roar.
Like the fantasy that we all embrace
The music will let us soar
(Chorus)
Now Jerry and Frank are in the Cyber Tank,
They didn't make the final deal.
Elvis is along just for his songs
He think he's alive I fear!
The telephone's ringing,
please pass me a beer.
And tell 'em "Dave's Not Here!
"Everybody loves to sing along,
Hey, tell 'em "Dave's Not Here!
(Chorus)
