Story Behind the Song
In the spring of 1998, Aada A'Abonia and boyfriend Steve Lee(guitar virtuoso for the rock band FORCE TEN, also on MP3),both being inseparable at the time and deeply in love with each other, had a series of breakups that left both Aada and Steve broken hearted and on the verge of being suicidal. Aada being a studio vocalist, had a session one day at 4th Planet recording studios in Los Angeles and unbeknownst to her, Steve and his band FORCE TEN had a recording session later that day. When the engineer told Aada that Steve's band was coming in later, Aada waited for Steve and handed him a poem that she had written. Early the next morning, Aada and Steve reconciled and the very next day they both went into the recording studio and recorded "Straight As An Arrow". The vibe was so intense in the studio, Aada and Steve did the song in one take with just one small vocal overdub at the end of the song. That very same poem became part of the lyrics to the song. Aada and Steve are still living together in a suburb just outside Los Angeles.
Lyrics
Been walking all night, my feet are burning.
My shoe's are all dirty, I'm achy and cold.
Made my mistakes, taken you for granted.
Now I've learned my lesson, my heart is achin for you.
Suffered so much baby, alway's gettin off the right track.
I long for stability, the kind I find with you.
Made my mistakes, always taking life for granted.
Now I've learned my lesson, my heart is breaking in two.
Theres only one thing left to do, cause I can't stand losing you.
I'm gonna walk down this path, I'm goin straight as an arrow.
I've learned my lesson, commin home to you.
I'm goin down the right path, I'm goin straight as an arrow.
Cause I can't stand the thought of losing you, the thought of losing you.
Straight as an arrow, gotta get back to you, I'm commin home to you. Cause I can't stand the thought of losing you.
