Electric/acoustic driven "poppish" song, but not too much so. Great guitar solo under the ending vocals.

    Story Behind the Song
This one was on a limited edition CD maxi single released November 1997 at the end of "The Intimate Room" era of performances/promotion entitled "Fall", which featured 2 studio songs (this being 1 of the 2) and live acoustic performances of 3 "Intimate Room" songs. The original arrangement of Believe was very overproduced and cluttered. After rethinking my musical approach for the making of the "Lost July" CD, I decided to strip the song down and create a better, more effective song. I really am happy with the results. Lyrically, it's a song of love, loss, and rememberance.
Actually about a man falling in love with a woman not willing to commit, letting her know how deeply he feels for her, and when she feels she can't really love him, he gives up his dreams of her so she can go fullfill hers. Does that make any sense? Well the lyrics are good anyway.

    Lyrics
    she was everything to me
our shadows fell into the sea
    when would she ever believe
    she was all i'd need

    another promise in the rain
the shine of her smile on an autumn day
the feel of her skin as she fell slowly past
    as she turned away

i just can't help from feeling so far away
    another time, another day
trapped deep inside of me i want you to see
that this part of me is for real

sometimes i feel like reaching out for her
and beg for my heart's release
    when would she ever believe
    that it's all a dream

sometimes i feel so cold inside
as the stars and the sky and our eyes collide
when would she ever decide that she's only mine

i just can't help from feeling so far away
    another time, another day
trapped deep inside of me i want you to see
this part of me is for real

She left me standing in the rain
and i turned inside to twilight gray
and away from me she slipped easily
my only wish is that you will believe

and i let you go, 'cause i let you go away
