Story Behind the Song
This piece was written for a huge event at the venue Cirkus in Stockholm. The live-version featured 15 dancers, special choreography, specially designed videographics on huge screens, an impressive lightshow as well as
performances of Kristina Porath (a mezzosoprano from Stockholm´s Folkoperan),
Tomas Ringvall and Tobbe Eliasson on sax. Also appearing is american actor Stephen Rappaport
reading the spoken word. "Desiderata" is originally about 10 minutes long, I'll be uploading the full version shortly.
Lyrics
The lyrics for this song is based on a document entitelled "Desiderata" (meaning
desirable things, I guess) which was found
in an old church in Baltimore, written by some unknown person in the 1690´s containing general advice on love and life. I've used parts of it and added the ending myself just to wrap it up. It's amazing how little we've all changed in 300 years. We may think we have, but deep down, people who lived hundreds
of years ago are exactly the same as us. They struggled, triumphed, despaired, loved and lost just the way we do.
