Story Behind the Song
This is how the story goes, as King Sonny tells it:
"One day I was sittin' downtown Mill Valley (my Mom live in Santa Rosa, north of San Francisco) and I was waitin' for the bus at the Mill Valley Bus Depot. Any, who should I run into but famous (but now deceased) rock promoter and impressario, Bill Graham.
....Lo and behold, we got talkin' about the old days in San Francisco during the 60s when he was running Filmore West - and the sixties explosion was happening right there in S.F. Anyway, we talked for a while and he wrote down the words to this song that he wanted me to sing....what he doesn't know is that did make it into a song and I recorded it to celebrate the new Millennium - hence the title: Millennium - all due thanks to Bill Graham - may he rest in peace...God Bless..."
Lyrics
The Millennium she be here now, alright,
No more steal the apple from the garden.
Come take the love from me in the morning
'Cos, the sun, she goes down from my banana...
