Story Behind the Song
I wrote and recorded this in mid-May, and my wife really likes it. Of course, she's not exactly my harshest critic (my Mom really likes it too,) but I'm happy with it and I got to master a little more right hand guitar stuff. Fun. Also, if you listen carefully a few seconds after the second chorus, you can hear the creak of my chair when I was recording.
Lyrics
Just one thing before you
start to walk away, I guess
I never had the nerve to
tell you.
You see, we just aren't the
same, you and me we've got to
realize that our differences de-
fine us.
Of course we're not the
same, is this new? Or did
you think that we were just alike?
I'm more than you will ever be, more than
you could ever hope to have in this or any life.
Maybe I'm just confused
right now, I guess
I never knew that you
felt this way.
You see, today I just don't
care, what you say or what you
think that I mean to you.
How dare you talk to me this way?
Don't you know who I am?
I'm the reason for what you are today,
I'm the one and only way.
Follow me, and I'll
carry you. I won't
let you go.
Follow me, and I'll
see you through.
Through the turmoil of your doubt.
I'm really really confused right now,
why don't you explain to me what you've said.
If you think that I should follow you, then
you don't understand the life that goes a-
long with being yours.
So you think I don't understand
what it means to follow me?
So, you want me to explain it all away,
I will, but first you have to
Follow me, and I'll
carry you. I won't
let you go.
Follow me, and I'll
see you through.
Through the turmoil of your doubt.
I knew you, when your broken childlike face
gave out a cry of mishapen loss and bitter fate
I reached out to you, and you tried to bite my hand
I gave to you and you crucified me
Follow me, and I'll
carry you. I won't
let you go.
Follow me, and I'll
see you through.
Through the turmoil of your doubt.
