Story Behind the Song
The hook for this song came to me while shopping with my boyfriend for groceries. We have been together for awhile and are both at the stage where the newness has worn off, and now less 'endearing' qualities about each of us are starting to show. There's been a lot of tension in our relationship of late, but our time shopping together was so much fun. It's that fun that's helping to keep our love fresh and worth saving. I wrote, produced and performed this track in about 3 hours.
Lyrics
Trading kisses and holding hands, talking future and making plans
When we know we will not be together all of our lives
Making names for the kids we want--four girls, two boys...well, maybe one
That's alright, these are the days I like
Can you stay for always
It don't have to be, it don't have to be just today
Got a card from my valentine, swore he'd loved me for real for life
That's alright, these are the days I like
Tells me I'm the first love he's known, but that's no feat since he's barely grown
So I tell him he's the greatest love of my life
Describes the home that we'll one day share, rubs my feet while I comb his hair
That's alirght, these are the days I like
Can you stay for always
It don't have to be, it don't have to be just today
You and I make so much sense to me, say that you'll be
My baby cried in my arms last night
A second chance felt more like goodbye
And I know I should prepare myself, but I'll be fine
Fought all night and we slept in late
Woke up to a familiar face
Now that's alright, these are the days I like
Can you stay for always
It don't have to be, it don't have to be just today
My baby cooked just for me tonight
Falling in love again feels so right
These are the days I like
