"Press the Keyboard" is a fine pop track from the band Falling Up Art. In the tune, the band takes a couple of the core MIDI and wave samples, and weaves them into a tapestry of sound that has become the hallmark of this Sacramento, California band. | MP3.com CD: The Onset of Illusion Project - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
Concept: D. Simpson writes: I began working on this track without any clear intentions for its direction other than the requirement that it be easy on the ears. Nor did I have any ideas for what it would be about. The only aim I had in mind was to chose a few of the MIDI files that worked well together and begin building an arrangement from them. I piled on several layers of my own fiddle-faddle before I was ready to let it out into the world. I'm still not sure that it's 'about' anything, but I'm happy with the results. I dropped the samples of the kids in and they seemed to work well, thus the title "Press the Keyboard." (The phrases I used are "I want to hear the sound right now," "I'm done saying stuff," the title phrase and a few giggles.)
Location: North Highlands, CA. USA.
Gear: Korg M1, Roland JX-3P, Sequential Circuits Prophet 600, Akai S612 and various effects.
