A song that will surprise you with its humorous yet truthful lyrics and hauntingly hip musical treatment. You will hear Sting's influence on Jim Gailloreto's soaring soprano sax part along with the brilliant guitar of Fareed Haque, who has played on Sting's recordings. |

Story Behind the Song
I had a friend who was constantly complaining about something, everything, everyone. Even therapy couldn't get this person out of their self-imposed funk. "It Sucks To Be You" came to me rather quickly and once we were in the studio it too only a few hours to track. Most people were put off by the title but upon hearing it found it to be very hip and quite moving.
Lyrics
Floods and tornados, a world of upheavals
just cant compete with your lifes little evils
your grass isnt green and your bed isnt made
you lie in the sun but your heads in the shade
CHORUS: man, it sucks to be you....you.....you.......it sucks to be you
trouble behind you, trouble ahead
good karma escapes you, cant get out of bed
you hold the candle, you take the cake
and youre wearing me out with the noise that you make
CHORUS: man, it sucks to be you....you.....you.......it sucks to be you
BRIDGE: just look around you
soak up the good news
you got no right to sing the blues
The sun is too hot and the rain is too wet
and the cold just gets colder the older you get
Well, life is a movie, the will to pretend
still you wait for the good guy to die in the end
CHORUS: man, it sucks to be you....you.....you.......it sucks to be you
