Story Behind the Song
Our bass play Pedro insisted we do this classic Irish rebel song. Its about a lad who rose against the Brits back in the day...way back, like 200 years back. Yeah, republicans have been rising for a while now -- either the Brits should get tired of it or we should get better at it.
Weve given it the punk treatment. We liked the words -- bombastic, militaristic, and passionate. Its just that there were way too many bombastic, militaristic, passionate words. So we chose the one line we really, really liked, and thats the only one we sing. "Fling your beavers aloft and give three ringing cheers!" We also celebrate our then-drummer James "Speed-eee" Lee at the songs conclusion. This is our original version -- a newer version with a tin whistle part by Diane is on Snipers In Derelict Houses. This was recorded the same day as "Hobosoapcore Anthem," and like "Hobosoapcore Anthem," this version of Kelly was taken straight from the rough-mix cassette.
Lyrics

Fling your beavers aloft and give three ringing cheers!
repeat ad nauseum
