Story Behind the Song
"As always, the music of Wigtune Company keeps the enriched and very powerful emotions in their songs. There's nothing else to do than give this another high rating! But it's well deserved with music like this".. Fredrick Cole: Trax in Space
Don's moody piano arrangement is based on a Wigtune praise chorus that encourages Christians to join their hearts and lift them high for the glory of God. Jesus prayed that the Church would abide in unity. This expression of love is one of the greatest testimonies of the Gospel. (Jn 17:23) Unity under truth of the Bible is one of the most powerful expressions of worship that the Church can offer unto God!
The Book of James explains just how vile the unbridled tongue can be. One moment it blesses God with praise and the next it curses men with a vengeance. (James 3:1-12) The hypocrisy of the whole ordeal is near the center of the weakness of the Church.
Gossip is rampant in our churches. On one hand we see believers gathered together in the church service singing love songs to God. The next hour they stand in the foyer telling each other that they cant believe another person did this or that so that they can draw people into their own court. As James declared, My brothers, this should not be.
We Join Our Hearts addresses this issue by encouraging the body of Christ to join together with one heart as they praise God in unity. One verse in the praise song sings of the work that Christ did for us on the cross. Did Christ die so that we could bicker with each other? Did He suffer so that we would praise Him with one side of our mouth while leveling curses on those He died for? The answer is obviously and emphatic NO!
This truth is so convincing that the song has always provided a blessing in church services. I wrote it in minor key to denote the somber mood that this understanding of praise ought to suggest. Many times We Join Our Hearts has been offered up and an opportunity for Christians to repent of their disunity. Other times it has encouraged and uplifted everyone present as they joined one anothers hands and lifted them high to the Lord. Whatever the context, this message of unified praise has always ministered to all.
Years ago I recorded the praise song with Selahs vocals, However, the song files were lost on the computer and the vocals were forever lost. I was left to listen to the instrumentals that include a graceful piano with a flowing string accompaniment. The arrangement enchanted me to such a degree that I decided to include it on my CD The Piano as an instrumental.
To sobriety of the minor melodies speak of a very serious subject. My prayer is that, as you listen to the piece, you will contemplate your relationships with other believers. Perhaps there have been instances that you have hurt others with your tongue. Or, you may desire to join hands with others in praise and adoration of Your Lord in all of your conversation. Be assured, those who praise God together as one, who worship God with one heart, are the true worshippers of God.
Lyrics
We Join Our Hearts
We join our hearts and lift them high,
To You in one accord.
We bring them as an offering of praise unto You, Lord.
We worship You we glorify Your name. (repeat)
The Son of God came down to man,
To she His royal blood.
A sacrifice, His offering, Redeemed us as His Sons!
We worship You we glorify Your name. (repeat)
We join our lives and lift them high,
To worship in His name,
We bring them as and offering, a sacrifice of praise!
We worship You we glorify Your name. (repeat)
We join our hands and lift them high
To You in one accord.
We bring them as an offering of praise unto You, Lord.
We worship You we glorify Your name. (repeat)
