Story Behind the Song
The cello sonata is one of two compositions Chopin wrote for cello and piano. A direct result of his special friendship with cellist Frenchome, this is a remarkable piece. The slow movement is a clear ABA form, in which the cello and the piano share equal billing. With extraordinary beauty, the largo fits well into the master piece as its slow movement, but also works beautifully as a piece on its own, often performed as an encore on many reciatls.
