Story Behind the Song
I said to myself that I wanted to write something funky with a long "I" chord throughout. I didn't want anyone to fall asleep so I came up with the cool chorus based loosely on a different arrangement that I'd heard of "Born Under a Bad Sign." I wanted to keep it Blues but add colors. The lyrics kept it Blues in my mind.
The song is about being young, making stupid choices, getting in trouble over your head, and fighting your way out to become a better smarter person. To have the honor of being able to "Live To Tell." I like to think of it as an urban 70's street version of "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."
