	Story Behind the Song A set of German songs written for my friend Marta Phillips to perform. German lends itself to my music because of its dark, consonant laden nature. We originally recorded this in the sancturar of Our Lady of the Wayside but were not pleased with the result. We went into the studio a few weeks later and rerecorded it. One of the cellists had such an overpowering sound that we had to put up an acustical wall around him in order to get the blend just right. Lyrics (Enlish translation) Not a breeze is stirring, Softly slumbering lies the grove; Through the dark cover of foliage Steal the bright sunbeams, Rest, rest, my soul, Your turmoil has been furious, You have raged and trembled, Like the surf when it swells! These times are turbulent They cause distress to heart and mind. Rest, rest, my soul, And forgets what threatens you!
