Label: Independent

Story Behind the Song
When this song was being arranged and produced in the studio, the final result was a rather large production. While Dan, one of the songwriters, liked the result, he had always insisted that the song's production be kept simple. This stripped-down version was created after the full version was finished as a way of showcasing the band's vocal abilities. For more information on the origins of the song, see the song's story under the full version of "God Knows"
Lyrics
We've been asking questions
since we were three-years-old.
We always try to find out why,
yet we did as we were told.
The more we think we find the answers,
the less we really know.
So, when it comes to you and I,
we've just always left it alone.
(CHORUS)
Was it the way that I looked in your eyes?
Was it the way that you smiled at me?
God knows how I long for your touch,
and sometimes I can't breathe when you're
near me.
Was it the way that the time passed by
so quickly, that you and I were meant to be?
God only knows.
God knows.
Through all the years together,
through all the ups and downs,
we realize this love was given
as much as it was found.
Second chances don't come along enough
to wait in this short life.
So, when He put your hand in mine,
He didn't have to ask me twice.
CHORUS (2x)
