Story Behind the Song
This song is the story of a head of lettuce.
How it was raised, harvested and sold by Farmer Hank. We follow the lettuce into a home where it is chopped up and served as food. I feel terrible for all lettuce. At least with beef we kill the cow first.
Lyrics
My head rest on dirt, grown from the seed, of Farmer Hank. His kids run and play, my friends wait on clay, for Farmer Hank and his tank.
Run if you can, the blades of the man, Who gathers us and prepares us for the end.
We'd run if we could, our nerves misunderstood, we're still alive, we're chopped alive to eat.
