	Story Behind the Song Song for John Lennon © N. Donahue (I want to begin by saying I am not a John Lennon worshiper. He is not my God or anything else. I wanted to point out that the lyrics to this song came from a combined since of admiration and sadness for what he was going through inside throughout his life. If your in doubt read and listen to his lyrics). Now to continue with my story. The chords to the song came very easy. Simple guitar chords. I was told the progression had a Beatles sound to it. At the time I had just purchased John Lennons Anthology and as I listened and read the lyrics I immediately observed some similarities in our lives as children. Particularly that neither one of us had much contact with our fathers. It was very obvious he was profoundly effected by his relationship or lack of with his parents. Long story short I sensed his pain. Also what I said about writing a song with him in another life is true, who wouldnt want to. I also tried to use some of his song titles in the song when appropriate. After many takes and rewrites and help from two friends the song was finished.
