Story Behind the Song
My tenor performance here attemps to pay stylistic homage to some of my strongest influences like: Illinois Jaquet, David "Fathead" Newman, Junior Walker, Wardel Gray, Gene Ammons, Stanley Turrentine, Houston Person, King Curtis, and Louis Jordan. We wanted to write a song that had elements of old-school rhythm and blues and big-band jump-swing, but with a newer sense of harmony.
