Lyrics
Well there we were on a Tuesday night
When all of the sudden out come the light
Before you knowd it was purdy dark
And we couldn't know who'd cut that fart
But it was rough and it was rank
And boy howdy, it downright stank
Pretty soon we saw were in trouble
The whole situation liked ta burst our bubble
Our electricity done went out
It was enough to make us pout
Not to worry, someone lit a wick
The waste was enough to make Danny sick
Seeing as we couldn't go nowhere in the car
We decided to light us a fire
Then after we'd all gotten fed
We all got tired and went to bed
We went to bed without a light
On that extremely terrible, dark, cold night
CHORUS
When the lights went out in Hot Springs there
When the lights went out electricians didn't care
When the lights went out we played an acoustic set
When the lights went out we barbecued the pet
When the lights went out we all began to freeze
When the lights went out we saved on electric fees
Wednesday morning we all woke up
Trees were falling, had to move Pa's truck
Trees were falling on account of the ice
On account of that we moved cars twice
Two dumb kids were walking out on the lake
Papaw said, "Are you crazy? That lake's gonna break.
If you fall down you just might drown
And goodness knows you'll never be found."
Then for lunch we had some stew
For dinner we had some strange sort of brew
The coffee was hot, but it smelled like smoke
We were quite lucky we didn't choke
Danny needed to fetch him a cigarette
We said, "Okay, but you gotta take our pet.
But bringer back soon," we carefully made clear
"It's important we have our dinner here."
We sat around for so darn long
We decided to write this stupid song
CHORUS
