	Story Behind the Song First written in kids bedroom after putting them to sleep. lights out, lying on my back i played and sang all four verses: stream of improvisation captured to a $30.00 cassette recorder. After I got Pro toolsI recorded this with Glen and I playing guitars and overdubbing vocals by myself. I added some minimal sounds to the mix. Lyrics say hello to my blue skies caving in there aint much of nothing I wouldn't do again caught that look in your eye and it shook me to the bone i don't like to cry and i pick my moments alone for free i had the shock of my life all watered down with drugs and alcohol and television that kept me around runnin the red lights and looking behind me wondering how long, how long? till i got myself straight by losing everything i own for free say hello to my past i tried to burn the school down i wore a very angry mask to the whole damn town and i kept it all along thru my marriage too my kids call me the meanest old man that ever said hello to you for free i wonder what the future brings with a golden calf i wonder who we'll call our friends when we live through that songwriters like we are rare you might call us a dime a dozen but i don't really care 'cause i'm living like i want to be living to give my song for free yeah i sing for free cause i get lost in me
