Story Behind the Song
He is old and has been living alone in his mountain top shack for decades. One of his favorite pastimes is to sit on the big rock overlooking the mountain face and the valley below and think things through.
On this particular day, however, something special starts to happen - the Hermit hears things around him in a way he's never heard before. While he listens, the sounds (that are generally random) of the mountain and its forest begin to form beautiful rhythmic patterns. He listens quietly for awhile - afraid that moving might break the spell.
Eventually, he becomes inspired and overwhelmed by what he's hearing. He gets up off the rock and begins to move to the rhythm, very slowly at first. But soon, he is jumping up and down with his arms stretched over his head and his hands twitching at the wrists and his fingers moving like small branches blowing in the wind.
He laughs out loud as he dances and wonders when was the last time he felt this good. Smiling, exhausted and happier than he's been for as long as he can recall, the Hermit settles back on his big rock to ponder and listen to the rhythm of his wonderful mountain.
