Trading My City Existence
Music and lyrics by Tim Magnus
I traded my city existence for a country living, best move that I ever made.
Now I'm watching stars fall instead of cable and Sipping cold beer in the shade.
Still people often ask me, "Don't you miss the big life?"
To me the "biggest" part was the crowds.
Traffic and congestion, crime and pollution,
neighbors who were often too loud.
But it's hard so hard. Knowing that I lived there so long.
It's hard so hard so many years when I knew it was wrong.
Now please understand I had plenty of good times
but those kinds of good times can't last.
I've watched too many people have to park on the shoulder
because they were driving good times too fast.
And I'm gone, yeah gone, gone to where the River is free.
I'm gone, yeah gone, where you can be you and I can be me.
Some folks say I'm being too philosophic,
I pretend I know what they mean.
But the truth of the matter is the wind picks the topics
and the moon is a guide in my dreams.
I'm lost, so lost, knowing what's been missing has been found.
And I'm high, so high, with my hands in the soil and my feet on the ground.
So maybe trade your existence for a country living, I think you'll be glad when you do.
And when the going gets tough the tough get going,
to your dreams you should always be true.
To your dreams, to your dreams, to your dreams you should always be true.
