Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song to a suicidal friend, the message is: "Call me, I'll be there for you."I wrote it in my home studio/kitchen in the mountains of coastal N. California in about an hour. We recorded it in a day, the drums and most of the guitar parts are 1st takes. We "comped" the lead vocals out of separate complete takes and because we had great takes with totally different feels, we used the spoken/Dylanesque take for most of the song and added a screamer rock take to the 3rd verse in addition, so it emulates the experience of crazy "voices in your head". The guitar leads were improvised with the tape rolling.
Lyrics
Sometimes in the night you get lonely
Sometimes in the night you get blue
Standing in a crowd people all around you
Sometime in the night I will come for you
Somewhere in the night there's an angel flying softly
She makes her lonely flight to come to your rescue
So open up your eyes take a look around you
Somewhere in the night I will come for you
Sometimes in the night you get lonely
Sometimes in the night you get blue
Standing in a crowd people all around you
Sometime in the night I will come for you
(Sometimes in the night) you get lonely
(Sometimes in the night) you get blue
(Sometimes in the night) angel flying softly
(Sometimes in the night) to come to your rescue
(Sometimes in the night) take a look around you
(Sometimes in the night) I will come for you
