Story Behind the Song
This song was written over the course of two long years and evolved through several different forms into the one you hear now. Lyrics changed, music was added and dropped, and finally it was complete.
The song is about a boy who realizes that his friend feels desperately saddened by this life and tries to show his friend that she is loved and that her life is worth something.
This song was recorded Dec. 16th, 2000, from 11ish a.m. to 7ish p.m. Mixed and Produced by Billy Arnett.
Lyrics
I woke up this morning alone in my bed.
Thoughts of you still run through my head.
How you said you were sad.
I never dreamed you felt that bad.
Why is every day such a bad day?
Am I the only one who feels this way?
I got a call on the phone.
You called to tell me how life went wrong.
How no one loved you and no one cared.
And you asked why life is so unfair.
I wanted to tell you He loves you so.
If you gave Him the chance He'd let it show.
Just asked where you were,
and told you "Stay there."
'Cause I had to let you know,
"There's someone who cares."
I got in the car, had to drive fast.
'Cause you said you didnt think
Your life would last.
You said that you felt like
You didn't have any friends.
And your life here had reached it's end.
When I got there it was too late.
She had decided her own fate.
So I fell to my knees and asked God why, "Why did this young girl have to die?"
Don't make the same mistake I pray.
Don't throw your life away.
