Lyrics
Moneybutton
by Andrew Earley
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times
In the city of greed, in the city of crime
Drug dealers, prostitutes, far as the eye can see
Trying to make a dollar so that they might feel free
You push the moneybutton just to satisfy your need
You push the moneybutton just to satisfy your greed
Millions dying of starvation while you make your millions
You fucking swine, you're gonna die
Feeding on the sorrow and the false hope of the masses
Bringing yourself higher as you fuck the lower classes
Have you no compassion, human feelings of any kind?
So much money's useless, yet you can't sacrifice a dime
I try to open up your eyes
But you're blinded by the light
And what of your wealth and power?
A child lying in the gutter
And you sitting on the couch, succumbing to the greed
Stop fucking around with bullshit, 'cause you've got kids to feed
You'll never strike it rich unless you earn a fucking living
Fuck the myth of rags to riches, fucking stop believing
Because of your complacency, people are dying in the streets
Your ignorance will kill us all, inflict our own defeat
Things will never change unless you strive to make them better
In your eyes, such apathy, you're no better than a killer
Weak and broken down with nowhere else to turn
Thinking monetarily, it seems you'll never learn
Your weakness only strengthens he who makes your misery
A mortal man and nothing more, with utter supremacy
I try to open up your eyes
But you're blinded by the light
And what of your wealth and power?
A child lying in the gutter
You push the moneybutton just to satisfy your need
You push the moneybutton just to satisfy your greed
