	Story Behind the Song This short instrumental piece is about an alien race who must live in deep caves rather than die on their world's frigid landscape. Only on the day of their planet's closest approach to the sun (the "perihelion) to they venture to the surface, reveling in the brief oasis of warmth and light. After festival dancing, cavorting and tanning, they retreat from the returning cold, back to the refuge of the caves. Ever heard of 12-tone serial music? This was an experiment at making 7-tone serial music. Originally writtn for string orchestra, it is here realized on a Commodore-64. No multi-tracking or overdubbing at all! Every note attack,release, pitch, timbre, and effect was triggered at the proper time by a long BASIC program that POKED one byte values into the C-64's three-voice SID sound chip. The reverb was added with a spring-type unit built from a kit.
