A fanciful tale of an imaginary record producer who refuses to come see our band. |
CD: GRAVID
Label: Flux XXX Records
Credits: By POP, recorded by Scott Winland |
Story Behind the Song
Al penned this little ditty, so it's hard to say what he might have been thinking. Actually, its hard to tell what he's thinking in just about every instance. Anyhow this song is more or less about the "struggle" of bands trying to compete in an overcrowded market, vying for the attention of the one short, drunk guy who can make or break a career, all the while coping with more successful acts who produce garbage (think of Creed while you listen to this). This song is followed abruptly by Al's lovely rendition of "They don't make Marathon candybars anymore, what's up with that?"
NOTE: The title character of "Bela" bears no similarity to any other persons posisbly named Bela, who possibly, coincidentally may run a record label in a major metropolitan area.
Lyrics
Bela takes a while
Says I still can
Gets him to the church with prayin' hands
He takes out a file and plays da sham
Break out a bottle, we're on the lam!
Chorus:
Sure, it'll be out soon
No, I don't know if I like that band
I don't know if I gonna be out soon
If the cops show up tell 'em E Pluribus Unum
Columbus
Nobody cares
Who makin' money
'Thad E. Care'
Bunch a lame crap*Go away
Far away
Crusty blather
Chorus
