Story Behind the Song
Step 1. Figure out some notes on a dropped-D guitar.
Step 2. Give up when your flatmate says it sounds exactly like the bassline from Slint's "Goodmorning, Captain"
Step 3. Go ahead with it anyway. Ignore the flatmate for now.
Step 4. Slowly realise that quiet-quiet-LOUD is not exactly ground-breaking any more.
Step 5. Sit on your ideas for a year
Step 6. Discover Aerial M. It's obvious in retrospect.
Step 7. Re-record the tune without the distortion, thanking the gods for the wonders of digital editing.
Step 8. Find out there's a whole bunch of people who like this sort of stuff and get stoked when they describe Verbatim as 'Glorious' and 'Super-Beautiful'
Step 9. Musically, I'm all out of ideas at the moment. I think Step 9 needs to be 'reinvent yourself'.
