	Story Behind the Song Jakes life was lost due to abuse. Sadly, many other little defenseless kids are lost from similar incidents. Maine has seen it's share of cases. Thanks to Pam Belisle, Jake's mom, many are becomming aware of the dangers of shaking, beating, or otherwise abusing children. Lyrics Jake was a healthy little blue eyed boy His mama's treasure, his daddy's joy Till that Monday we thought would be like any other day. Took him to the babysitters, waved goodbye then drove away. Two hours later we got the frantic call The sitter screamed come quick, nothing else that's all We were there in a flash, held him really close but then Inside we knew that Jake would never be the same again. Don't Shake Jake, It's a big mistake Don't Shake Jake, There's so much at stake Don't Shake Jake Took him to the hospital to see what they could do but their faces told the story we couldn't accept as true And all that night and following day we hoped and prayed and cried. But his four month life was ending and at four o'clock he died. The doctor sat us down to tell us how his life was taken Said your little boy was badly badly shaken His brain was bruised and he couldn't take the shock. He fought so hard to stay alive, he tried but he could not. CHORUS: Alone with your baby and you're feeling some stress And the worries of your mind take away the tenderness.
