Story Behind the Song
Scott came up with the music, Julee helped him arrange it. Julee would not let him write self-depricating lyrics to such a hip-shakin' tune. As Julee was writing a thesis in her head about what the song should be about (about this new trend in really smart and shy boys not being able to talk to girls, and how they just need to gather up that confidience, strut like those bad boys, and talk to girls, while retaining everything that makes them a "nice guy"...nice guys CAN get the chicks!!), Scott came up with a really good verse and chorus. Julee helped with the rest... that process took a couple months. This one is acoustic, and performed live in-studio at 90.3 KRNU. We took 3rd place in the battle of the Lincoln Singer-Songwriters with this tune.
Lyrics
I saw you
from across a crowded room
my God girl
you look so fine
you look so fine
and I
saddled up beside you
but I could not
find the words to say...
bring myself to say...
pretty baby, won't you please
c'mon over sit next to me,
I won't hurt you, wait and see
I swear
and I
I could use assistance
'cause all I've learned
won't help me through this
won't help me through this
so c'mon
the whole night is waiting,
I'll take my chance 'cause
there's no hesitating
no hesitating
pretty baby, won't you please
c'mon over sit next to me,
I won't hurt you, wait and see
I swear
