A soft piano number about things that happen in one's life and how meaningful and memorable experiences can be. A bit melancholy yet very direct and reflective.
CD: Killer Moonlite Tan   Label: Dei Knob Records
Credits: Andru Bond, Phase Thirteen Studios

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written one day during the summer about five months before the album was completed. I came up with a few notes on the piano then recorded it back from my broken speakers which gave it a really hard raw sound and you almost can't tell it's the piano. I added the same notes on the keyboard so it wouldn't sound so plain. I think it took maybe three takes to get it right. The second part is the same lyrics repeated but with straight piano as crystal clear as I could get them. This part was added later. I was listening to Silver Jews a lot during this time and kind of had D.C. Berman's voice in my head on the second part. The lyrics are about sitting by my pool at night during the summer just thinking and listening to music and getting a moonlight tan which I thought was kind of a cool idea. Recorded at Phase 13 Studios, Jackson, Tennessee.

    Lyrics
    I ate some earth
    I saw a star
I never knew I'd see so far
I met you on the kitchen floor
You looked at me, you begged for more
    More life, more pool time?
    I don't know
I won't forget your happy glow
But now you're gone and I'm still here
And all I have is this flat beer
I wear the clothes I grew up in
Thinking of a film about Ben
But that's just fiction, it's just a joke
Now when I think of you, I choke
You just changed but I'm still sound
Soon I'll have outgrown this town
    I don't know if I'm a man
But at least I have this moonlight tan
