Story Behind the Song
It was at the peak of the Black Velvet Elvis craze. It oozed out of my pen.
The voice over part was recorded through an old antique Bell and Howell
microphone which would have been connected to a hand held speaker as might
be used by a sidewalk preacher, back in the fifties...we patched the mike
in to the board...
Lyrics
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, tell me, now, would I lie to you?
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, he's bringing Jimi and Janis, too!
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, there's no reason for us to be blue
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, he'll look as fresh as morning dew!
But don't expect Colonel Parker, he's down below, shoveling coal
Or, maybe, someplace even darker, all for stealing that poor boy's soul
(voice over music):
This is your son, Mama...
Put the turkey in the oven,
I'm coming home.
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, tell me, now, would I lie to you?
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, there's no reason for us to be blue
Elvis is coming back for Christmas, he'll look as fresh as morning dew
...Won't You?
